This Weekend #1

Sunday, March 30, 2014

For the past year, Jono and I have been intending to go to Cardiff, and yet we never managed it. This weekend, with my departure from Bristol looming (two weeks left until moving day!) we thought it would be a good time to venture to Wales.

Our first stop in Cardiff was a burger restaurant called The Grazing Shed, and I have to say the burger was fantastic! I am a little bit obsessed with burgers at the moment, I would eat them for breakfast lunch and dinner if I could, and this one did not dissapoint!

After a stroll around Cardiff city centre we headed to the bay, where we sat outside to enjoy a drink or too (before we got too cold, and headed back indoors to warm up). It was beautiful, despite the somewhat miserable weather, it would be lovely to go back in the summer when it's warmer to enjoy a boat ride around the quay.

On a whim we decided to visit Barry Island - queue lots of Gavin and Stacey quotes and awful attempts at the Welsh accent - and I am so glad we did! I am a sucker for an old seaside town, and it was so much fun! We walked on the beach, played on the 2p machine in the arcade (we won two keyrings!) and had some chips slathered in salt and vinegar. And no trip to the seaside is complete without a bag of fresh donuts, which we shared on the train home.

Today has been spent relaxing, and indulging in a roast dinner, before waving Jono off back to Cambridge! Our weekend has been pretty fantastic, how about yours?
