5 Things I'd Tell My Teenage Self

Friday, June 12, 2015

(yes, that is me drinking strongbow sat on a toilet...)

My teenage years were filled with late nights, alcohol and hair straighteners. I did a lot of things I'm not proud of, but I also had a lot of fun with some pretty amazing friends. If I'd go back I'd probably do a few things differently, but life's too short to spend time regretting things. Now I'm officially an 'adult' though there are a few things I'd tell my teenage self if I could:

1. You are not as fat as you think you are. In fact, you're actually quite slim so stop worrying so much about how much you weigh and go and enjoy yourself more. Try to enjoy the body you have because it won't always look the way it does now!

2. Work harder at college. It won't kill you to put a bit more time into revision, and a few more marks on your A levels would make a lot of difference to your life. The results you get will guide your future, so stop learning the 50 states of America as a form of procrastination and focus on your biology work as it will get you further in life.

3. Save some money. You might not believe it but right now you have the most disposable income you will have for a long time. Stop spending so much on nights out and make up and save some for your future to make life a little easier!

4. Travel more. You haven't really got that many commitments and you've got a steady income so save up and explore the world. You don't have as much time to do this before you have a baby than you think you do!

5. Be nicer to your mum. She's the only one you've got and she loves you more than anything. Stop coming home drunk and stop picking fights. She's just trying to give you the best life that she can, so show her some more love than you do right now!

What would you tell your teenage self if you could?

  1. I would tell myself some of the above actually! I really lacked confidence in my teenage years and there is so much I would tell myself about my weight and how to relax and do some things I was too scared of doing. #thelist

  2. These ring so true for me. All 5 of them. You're not as fat as you think you are. I should have spent less time worrying about my body and more time embracing it! Some I learnt the very hard way like saving money, not only did I not save but I was living like a millionaire (well not quite), spending money I did not have. Opps! K x #thelist

    1. It's so hard looking back now and realising how different the perception of my body and the reality of my body were! I lived like that too haha! xx

  3. I can really relate to this, I would tell myself the same things. I would tell myself to go for the college course that I really wanted to do not the one my friends were on!!
