5 Things autumn

We're about half way through August which means that autumn is just around the corner! It's almost time for us to pack away our summer clothes and get out our chunky knits and boots. September through to December is my favourite time of year and there's always so much to do with all of the holidays to celebrate! This will be Zach's first autumn and I can't wait to start making memories and new traditions with him - here's what we hope to get up to:

1. Go to a pumpkin patch. This is something I have always wanted to do and I think that it would be a fun tradition to start as a family. We could go each year and pick out our pumpkins ready to carve for Halloween. I think it's quite an American thing to do, but I love the idea of it!

2. Dress up for Halloween. I think it's really fun to take part in all of the holidays around this time of year, and I love all of the decorating and dressing up that goes with Halloween! We dress up every year, but this year we get to dress Zach up too! All we have to decide is what to dress him up as!

3. Play with fallen leaves. It's always so magical when all of the trees turn that beautiful amber colour and start shedding their leaves. It signifies the end of summer, and the beginning of my favourite time of year! Zach loves being outside in nature, especailly when he is let loose to crawl about in the grass. I think he would love to play with the crunchy leaves this autumn!

4. Eat some pumpkin. Normally when we buy pumpkin it is just for us to carve for Halloween, and everything we scoop out gets sent straight to the compost. This year I want to get a bit creative in the kitchen and try some pumpkin recipes - perfect for Zach who has started weaning!

5. Go to watch the fireworks. We love going to watch the fireworks, and plan to take Zach, albeit with some ear defenders! He could absolutely love it, but it could also scare him, so we have no idea what to expect with this one! Have you ever taken a baby to watch fireworks?

What do you want to do this autumn with your littles?

  1. It so funny how we all seem to have moved on from summer. I am already planning Autumn outfits.
Pumpkin patch sounds like so much fun.

  2. It's my favourite time of the year too, I love it when it starts getting chiller, I have already brought my winter coat, haha! We went pumpkin picking last year, Oliver loved it and we have said we should make it a tradition.
