prep

Time absolutely flies when you're a parent. You know the kind: blink and you'll miss it. One year ago I was heavily pregnant, and now here we are with an almost-one-year-old and I'm trying to figure out how the hell that happened. It's a funny feeling though, because although it's absolutely flown by I feel like Zach has been here forever. I can't imagine life without him.

As each day passes we are getting closer and closer to our boy's first birthday. On the one hand I want to sit in a corner and sob because I'm not quite ready to accept that we no longer have a baby. But on the other I am so excited to get together with our closest friends and family to celebrate Zach's first year. There's nothing more special than seeing the love other people have for your child.

We're having a little (read: huge) party at our house, and have decided on a theme which perfectly represents our boy's first year: 'twinkle twinkle little star'. I think it's so classic, and of course is something we've sung over and over and over and over... I actually began planning his party almost six months ago (yes really!) so it's really exciting to see it finally coming together.

With just two weeks to go I have spent the past few days in total party preparation mode. I've decided (in classic Chantal style) to make as many of the decorations as I can. I have so many ideas, and I really hope that I can get it all done. I want to make the day as special as I can for my little boy because you only get your first birthday once!
