RECIPE | Star Shaped Tortilla Chips

Wednesday, February 17, 2016

For Zach's 'twinkle twinkle little star' themed first birthday party I knew I wanted to make as much of the food as I could. I scoured pinterest for the best ideas as this is my go to place for inspiration. I found a photo of some star shaped tortilla chips with a recipe which looked really simple, so decided that I would give them ago. They turned out great (aside from the few I burnt - oops!) and worked really well with the theme. This is how I made them:

You will need:

Corn tortilla wraps (Not flour! I found mine in Sainsbury's)
Vegetable oil
Seasoning (I used a little smoked paprika)
Cookie cutter (whichever shape you want to make!)
Pastry brush
Grease proof paper
Baking tray

Preheat your oven to 190 degrees C or gas mark 5
Cover your baking tray(s) with grease proof paper
Brush both sides of the tortillas with oil
Cut out your shapes from the tortillas
Place them on a baking tray
Sprinkle with salt/seasoning
Bake for 10 mins
Turn them over and bake for a further 7 mins
Keep an eye on them as they burn easily!

We served ours with guacamole, but they would be great with any dip or even as nachos. I will definitely be making them again as they were so easy, tasted great and look so effective!
