Me & Mine - June '16

Thursday, June 30, 2016

June has been a whirlwind for us as yet again we have been super busy! It's crazy to stop and think about how fast time is going, especially as we are now half way through 2016. It's been a pretty great year so far, and I'm actually really happy to be this side of June as it means I can start counting down to Christmas... ;)

We started the month with a little get-away, spending the weekend in Worcestershire with Jono's family to celebrate his parent's 30th wedding anniversary in a beautiful house with nothing to do but enjoy ourselves. The break was definitely needed; it gave us a chance to have a little breather and recharge our batteries ready for the busy weeks we've had since.

At the beginning of the month I wrote about how I wanted to make more effort when it came to parenting, as I felt that the time Zach and I spent together was usually filled with boring chores and far more Cbeebies than it should be. Since we've joined a local music class which we go to every Thursday morning, I have just signed us up for swimming lessons. Seeing how much fun he has each week is just the best thing in the world, and I'm feeling like a much better mother!

Over the past few months I've also worried about his speech development, or rather his lack of it. All of his little friends have been talking for a while now, and I've been wondering whether there is any reason why he may not have picked it up. This month however we have been hearing a few words from him which is really comforting, and also really exciting! I hope that it continues, as I'd love to be able to chat to him.

I ended the month with a weekend in London for BritMums Live, and had the best time with all my blogging friends. It's a funny world where people who you meet on the internet can become some of your best friends in real life, but I am so glad to have these girls by my side.

I couldn't write a post about June and not mention the elephant in the room. Brexit. I tend to stay away from anything political on here, as I want people to read my post regardless of any differences we may have in political opinions, however I can't pretend I wasn't absolutely devastated when I found out that we are going to leave the EU.

I don't know what the future will bring, and I really hope things won't be as bad as I imagine they will be, although I can't see a light at the end of the tunnel just yet. The decision that was made wasn't the one I wanted, and I feel heartbroken to think that Zach will group in a country very different to the one I did.

Thankfully I have a lot of exciting things to look forward to take my mind off the current political situation, and I think that July is going to be a good month. I just hope that the sun makes a bit more of an appearance as I am starting to get a bit bored of wearing cardigans and carrying my umbrella around with me!
