Me & Mine - August '1612:00
We've reached the end of the month again, and for once I'm really excited about it because the end of August signals the beginning of Autumn, which is by far my favourite season. I'm longing to wrap up in knitwear and embrace pumpkin season with every fibre of my being. And as much as I've been enjoying the glorious weather we've had this month I am so ready to feel a bit of a chill in the air.
Our August was all about family, and Zach and I spent a lot of time over the first two weeks with my dad and sister. We went to the beach, to the Harry Potter Studios and to the farm, and it was really lovely to spend some proper quality time together. Zach absolutely adores my sister, and seeing their bond grow was really special.
We spent a lot of time by the sea this month, visiting four different beaches along the East Anglian coast. There is something so calming about a day at the seaside, and Zach absolutely loves being able to roam free and explore - I really hope that we can fit at least one more trip in before the good weather disappears!
Our family portrait this month is from a weekend away in Oxford with Jono's parents. The weather was pretty miserable, hence the raincoats, but we still had a great time and it was fun to cheat on my hometown of Cambridge. The beauty of the architecture was a little lost on me because I am so used to being surrounded by similar buildings, but I absolutely fell in love with the doors at the Bodleian Library.
We visited London twice in August to see Jono's sister - once for her birthday, and once for a family meal. We really should go more often, as it only takes us just over an hour to get there. On both visits we ended up in Stoke Newington which is fast becoming my favourite area of London purely because is so calm compared to what it is like in central! There is a huge park with an amazing playground for Zach and sooo many amazing places to eat - if only we could win the lottery and move there!
We ended the month on a high as we welcomed a beautiful new baby boy to the family. Zach has a new little cousin, and we were lucky enough to get to meet him when he was just five days old. I couldn't believe how small he was, and it made me realise just how much Zach has changed since he was a newborn which was only a year and a half ago.
Speaking of which, Zach's speech has been improving this month and he now has a handful of words. It's such a relief to see him starting to pick up language, and he is communicating more than ever. He absolutely loves to talk about trains, which are his current obsession, and as soon as he sees one yells 'rain 'rain and goes 'choo choo'.
We made so many happy memories together this month, and I have so many photos from all of our little adventures. Here is a collection of my favourites:
How was your August?
