August in Books

This month I finished two books; it should have been three but I got half way through Moby Dick and gave up. It is just so long and tedious. I still intend to finish it though, so who knows, maybe it will be in next month's list!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by
Earlier this year I re-read the original Harry Potter Series, and as soon as I could I reserved my copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I got it on the day it came out - by the next afternoon I had finished it. I just couldn't wait. I have seen quite a few people saying that they didn't think it was as good as the other books, but I actually thought it was brilliant - it's a play not a novel so obviously it doesn't have the same amount of detail the original books do. I now desperately want to go and see it in London!

The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
I read this book for the twitter book club I take part in every month; #BookClub140 which is run by Stacie from Parker and Me. From the moment I started reading I was absolutely gripped, and I actually read the whole book in one day. I love a good mystery, and this one didn't disappoint - I was kept on my toes trying to guess what had happened until the very end. I've been told the style is very similar to Agatha Christie, so I plan to pick up a couple of her books!

If you want to join in with this month's #BookClub140 we are reading Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn and the chat will be on Sunday 25th September at 8pm!

  1. I still haven't read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child despite being a massive Harry Potter fan. I do want to read it but I was unsure of it being a script, most people I know have said they love it though like you, and they get used to the writing. I'm really curious to see how it unfolds. I must get it soon! xx

  2. Love how we both read the same books this month! I agree with you about both - you MUST read some Agatha Christie! I'd start with And Then Were None, as it is a standalone novel. Again, thanks for the #BookClub140 mention xx

P.S Is that a new sofa I can see? :)

  3. I desperately want to read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It sounds fabulous. And I used to read scripts all the time when I was younger so I don't think that will put me off. I miss reading so much. I really need to make sure that I allocate sometime each week to reading. Hugs Lucy xxxx #MarvMondays
