Fireworks, The Widow & Hillary #LittleLoves

Friday, November 11, 2016

Well, what a crazy week it has been, and one that I kind of wish I could forget all about. I didn't ever imagine that I would be so angered by the result of a US election, but that is exactly how I feel about the fact that Trump will be the next president. Despite feeling pretty miserable about the state of the world, this week has still had lots of lovely moments, and I am so glad that this post has given me a chance to remember that.

READ

Aside from approximately 3548294 articles about Trump I have been reading The Widow by Fiona Barton. It is the book for this month's #BookClub140; a twitter book club which is run by Stacie from Parker and Me, but this month I will be the one hosting the chat! It is a thriller, and I am about half way through now and have absolutely no idea what is going to happen - I can't wait to find out! If you would like to take part then please read a copy of the book and then join us on twitter at 8pm on Sunday the 27th for an hour of questions and chat.

WATCHED

On both Friday and Saturday night we headed out into the bitter cold to watch the fireworks for bonfire night. We weren't sure how Zach would react to them so we decided to stick to small demonstrations in local villages, but we needn't have worried as he absolutely loved them!

MADE

On the morning of the 5th I decided to get a little bit crafty with Zach so we got out the glue and some pots of glitter and got to work making some glitter fireworks. I always imagined that I would be one of those Pinterest mums, and I am so excited to start doing more activities with Zach as he gets older.

WORE

Last week I spoke about not being able to find a bobble hat to fit my head, and whilst I still haven't found what I'm looking for, I did buy one as it has been getting so cold! It is huge, and is most definitely too big for my little head, but it is so cosy and warm, and I guess that is all that really matters!

HEARD

I'm going to have to mention the election again, just once more, because Hillary's concession speech stands out by a mile when I think back to what I have heard this week. I'm most definitely not her biggest fan, but her words, which were delivered with such strength and dignity, resonated with me in a way I really didn't expect.

"I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but some day, someone will, and hopefully sooner than we might think right now. And to all the little girl whose are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams."

AND LASTLY...

I just want to be that annoying smug mum for two seconds to gush about how proud I am of my little boy. Yesterday we headed into London for an event, which meant spending two hours travelling there, and three hours travelling back, and Zach was an absolute star the entire time. Some days being a mama is so hard that I want to tear all my hair out, but then there days like yesterday where I just want to scream and shout about how amazing my little boy is, and those are the ones that make it all worth it.
