2017: The First Quarter

Monday, March 27, 2017

With just a few days to go until we welcome April, we are almost officially a quarter of the way through 2017, and I have to say that I am really happy to be saying goodbye to the colder months. I have always seen myself as a winter lover, but over the past few years I have found myself feeling really down during these first few months, and this year has been no exception.

After an amazing trip to Las Vegas in January I suffered with some pretty serious post-holiday blues, which for some reason never seemed to go away. I felt overwhelmed, irritable, lost, unmotivated and insecure. You may or may not have noticed that things have been a little quiet around here, and that is because I just didn't feel like I had anything to share. I had lost all of my confidence, and was questioning everything.

But now, just as the sun is starting to show it's face, the big dark cloud that the new year brought with it is starting to lift. I'm feeling happier than I have done in a long time, and finally feeling ready to get back to the blog. And whilst I'm making the past three months sound very miserable, there has been lots of lovely things happen too - so I thought I would share those, and get you all back up to date:

Zach turned two at the beginning of February and since then has been coming on in leaps and bounds with his speech. After worrying about his lack of speech for quite a while it feels like a massive weight has lifted, and it is so nice to be communicating more with him. We think he is still a little behind for his age, but he's learning really fast, and we are so proud of him!

Jono has spent the past three months preparing to go completely self employed as a driving instructor from the beginning of April. It is so exciting to see it all becoming a reality now, and we're hoping that the flexible hours will allow us to spend a bit more time together as a family.

I have really focussed on shifting some weight, and over the past 3 months I have managed to lose just over a stone, and I am feeling so much healthier. It is amazing to watch my body change, and I am hoping to take up more exercise and continue to eat healthily over the next few months.

Together as a family we have spent a lot of time playing with Zach's train set, going on trips to the park and watching Toy Story over and over again. We've had a family photoshoot in Thetford Forest, and I can't wait to share the photos as they are so lovely! And we've spent a lot of evenings going up and down the stairs as a certain toddler refuses to stay in bed, every single night.

So that's what we've been up to! Please let me know in the comments how you've found the first quarter of 2017!
