Me & Mine - July '17

Monday, July 31, 2017

Oh July, you've been a funny old month. The weather has been all over the place, from scorching hot heat to days when I've wanted to put the heating on (and even did on one occasion!) We've felt a bit all over the place too, with life throwing up a few curve balls, but on the whole, July was a happy one. We went on our first proper camping holiday for a week in the New Forest, and we've finally made a start on our wedding plans, which is really, really exciting.

Spending a whole week away together as our unit of three did us all a world of good. It's not very often that we get to spend quality time together as a family, so having seven days to enjoy each others company felt like a luxury. We survived that huuuuuge thunderstorm under canvas (Zach slept straight through!) and made so many memories which I'm sure will last a lifetime. It was also really nice to get away from technology, because although we still had our phones, we weren't glued to our screens, and it was definitely a welcome break.

We also had some lovely days out in July, including our annual trip to Norfolk for berry picking and beach exploring, and a day at the races in Newmarket. We've spent time with both sides of our family, and managed to see lots of our friends too. Because we were so busy a few things fell by the wayside, like, ahem, Slimming World, but the less said about that the better. August is a new month, and a fresh start.

One of the most exciting things this month has been hearing the development in Zach's speech. At two and a half, he has a bit of a speech delay, but even so it feels as though he is picking up language at a rate of knots. I love hearing his little voice chattering away, and every day he is saying new words. We've got a check up with the Health Visitor again in a few weeks, and I think she'll be pleased with the progress he's making, although he will possibly still need some speech and language therapy.

In contrast to July, August looks like it will be a relatively quiet month. We've still got a couple of weekends with no plans, and I'm really looking forward to getting back into our usual routines before the autumn. I am officially on countdown now, as September onwards is my favourite time of year, and August always feels like one last hurdle before we get there. I seriously can't wait for all of the knitwear, crunchy leaves and pumpkin spiced lattes!

August will also hopefully see us book the venue and officially set the date for our wedding, which I think will make it all feel far more real (especially after paying a hefty deposit!) We won't be getting married until 2019, so please prepare yourselves for almost two years worth of wedding posts. I know that not everyone will be interested, but it's such a huge thing for us that it would feel weird not documenting it on here.

Finally, I hope you've all had a really lovely July, and I wish you oodles of happiness (and sunshine) for the month ahead!

  1. What busy July you've had, it sounds like it was so much fun! I absolutely love that first picture, it's stunning. <3 xx

  2. You've had a busy month! Love your family photos, as always. Try not to worry about Zach's speech - Parker was delayed and now doesn't stop. He is SUCH a chatterbox! It will come, when he's ready. Enjoy the month ahead xx (PS. Love the font on your blog!)

  3. Oh sounds like you have been so busy but lovely way to enjoy summer. Love these snaps and your coordinating outfits if not on purpose looks fab well done. So many kids talk at different ages don't worry too much about it. My nephew was four and hardly said anything and now never stops. Enjoy August!!! #meandmineproject

  4. Eek how exciting about the wedding! I really miss wedding planning, its such a special thing to do! Gorgeous photos lovely xx
