'Oh Christmas tree,
oh Christmas treeeeee!'

We've reached the most magical time of year, with Christmas just around the corner, and twinkly lights in every window.

In our house we've got the tree up already, because we're eager beavers and like to enjoy the magic for every second that we can. This year we had our 'Christmas Tree Day' on the 30th of November, and I think that we might make that a tradition as it was so wonderful to wake up on the first morning of December with the house ready for the festive season.

Last year we had a very short and fat tree, which was cute (and pretty funny!), but I was keen to get a big one this year, and I haven't been disappointed - Jono picked out a huge 7 footer which touches our ceiling! It's bushy and beautiful, and every so sparkly with it's hundreds of lights. It's absolutely perfect.

Normally we decorate our tree in red and white, but this year I fancied a bit of a change. I've massively toned down the red, added lots of silver and clear glass baubles, and I am so happy with how it looks. I can't stop staring at our beautiful tree, and admiring both our new decorations as well as our older and more treasured ones.

I thought I would put together a post all about my favourite new decorations, a lot of which are still available, in case you fancy adding any new ones to your tree. There's always space to add another one or two!

I spotted these gorgeous baubles by Sophie Allport on Instagram, and after eyeing them up every day for a couple of weeks I finally took the plunge on Black Friday and placed my order. I got a set of three circular glass baubles, and a set of three teardrop glass baubles. I am so in love with them, and I think that they are so timeless and classic - perfect for many so Christmases to come.

Marks and Sparks has been my go to for affordable decorations this year - as well as being really cheap, they are all on 3 for 2, which makes them an absolute bargain. The spun glass bauble was only £3, half the price of the almost identical ones from the White Company, and the glittery ones were only £2 each, so I ended up buying six to make a full set as I love them so much!

I can't find a link to either on the website, but I would definitely recommend having a look in store as they have so many gorgeous decorations this year.

I also bought some new decorations from the White Company, which is one of my absolute favourite shops. They always bring out the most gorgeous things at Christmas, and I couldn't resist getting these during there 20% off sale over Black Friday. The white porcelain stars look so pretty dotted about the tree - I really love how simple they are. The silver mercury baubles are such classics, and are gorgeous next to the twinkly lights (I can't find the link for them, but they might still have them in store!)

I'm so happy with all of our new decorations, and every evening on the way back from work I can't wait to get home to see our tree all lit up through the window. We're all totally feeling the festive spirit now, and with less than 20 sleeps left until the big day, Christmas is coming quickly!

Do you have a colour scheme for your tree? Do you have a favourite place to buy ornaments?

  1. We have had the same colour theme for years. I was going to change it this year but we go a new tree instead. So maybe next year. The theme is red and silver. We have the same ornaments each year really. xx
